Litheum Engineering Update: Achieving Major Milestones with REVM Integration

Hello Friends,

This week marks a significant milestone in Litheum’s journey: the successful integration of REVM (Rust Ethereum Virtual Machine) into Litheum’s Proof of Performance consensus. This advance represents a pivotal moment for our platform, enabling native support for Ethereum smart contracts, while leveraging Litheum’s high-performance network.

Progress From the Litheum Engineering Team

REVM Integration: A New Era for Litheum

With the integration of REVM, Litheum nodes can now directly validate and execute EVM transactions within our consensus layer. This major enhancement aligns Litheum with Ethereum’s architecture while optimizing it for speed and scalability, setting us apart as a true next-generation blockchain.

From a technical standpoint, Litheum’s transaction prototypes now include critical Ethereum fields like nonce, to, from, gas_limit, value and chain_id. These fields move us closer to full EVM compatibility and lay the groundwork for interactions with Ethereum based tools such as MetaMask, Hardhat, and Foundry.

Seamless Interactions via JSON-RPC and Axum

In tandem with the REVM integration, our team has built the JSON-RPC skeleton required for EVM-based interactions. This functionality enables Litheum to communicate smoothly with external applications over HTTP, opening the door to a wide range of use cases for developers and end-users alike.

To maximize performance, we’ve adopted Axum, a high-performance HTTP framework built on Tokio. Axum ensures that Litheum handles requests with exceptional speed and reliability, offering the scalability needed to support large-scale decentralized applications. By combining REVM with Axum, we’ve set a solid foundation for Litheum’s future.

Preparing for Solidity Contracts and Beyond

The integration of REVM is one of the most intricate and impactful changes to Litheum Core, positioning us to soon launch testnets that fully support Solidity contracts. This means that developers will soon be able to deploy and interact with smart contracts on Litheum in the same way they would on Ethereum, but with the added benefits of Litheum’s enhanced performance and security.

Enhancing Code Quality: CI Pipeline Improvements

Alongside these technical breakthroughs, our engineering team has strengthened the CI pipeline. By adding more thorough Clippy checks, we ensure that our codebase is not ready for the REVM integration but also adheres to the highest standards of quality. These enhancements further reinforce the stability and security of the platform as we prepare for the exciting developments ahead.

A Glimpse into the Future

By embedding REVM directly into the core of our consensus mechanism, Litheum is bridging the gap between Ethereum’s well-established ecosystem and the future of high performance blockchain. This technical milestone represents our commitment to constant innovation and development, positioning Litheum as a leader in a decentralized technology.

As we move swiftly towards launching testnets with full EVM compatibility, we encourage our community to stay tuned for further updates. Our engineering team remains dedicated to pushing boundaries and delivering a blockchain that not only meets today’s demands but is sustainable for the long term.

Thank you for being part of Litheum’s journey, there’s much more to come!
